The Unending Night
Humans originated on the island of Antenora across the Salasar Channel from the main continent. The first human kingdom, Wygrievia, was slow to rise due to the constant infighting of the great human cities and their ongoing wars with the dwarven kingdoms to the north, in the vast Black Pocket Mountains. Only over the past century have the humans established the unified Wygrievia in the southeastern region. Though the Wygrievians attempted to gain a foothold on the continent just one year ago, their first settlement was destroyed during the expansion of the mountain orcs.
A vast fleet of mostly women and children first braved the channel and landed in a strange, abandoned city of marble and ebony. They occupied the place and named it Morganshold after the woman who brought them there. They later met the orcs of the neighboring marshes, who had abandoned the city as cursed many years ago. At first the orcs expected the “Morgans” to succumb to the plague that drove them from the city, but as the new city began to flourish, the marsh orcs considered the Morgans with reverence that eventually simmered into a friendship.
There had been no human record in Antenora of a past migration onto the continent, but long before the eastern elves or Wygrievian Morgans staked their claims in the West, another human settlement was established by supposedly holy people fleeing the constant chaos of the Shrouded Hills. On the quiet plains of the western coast, just before the mountains of the Great Desert Wall, these humans dubbed themselves the Orlandi, keepers of the god-given O’rland (the overlands). The region had been mostly unclaimed, and by the time that the Orlandi had grown into their own and established holy crusades of expansion, the native populations along the coast had already fallen to plague.
